Every year we launch a collaboration with one artist,
who will take over completely the graphics and the visuals of Casa Drassanes.
This will be their space and part of the money coming from the merchandising
will go directly to support their art.
Emy Sato was born in São Paulo, she has lived in Barcelona for over eleven years. Among her creative pursuits, she works as a photographer, illustrator, and designer. However, she views all of her work primarily as an attempt to describe her perception of reality—capturing not only what is visible, but also the invisible.
She often creates precisely because she does not know what will emerge, embracing uncertainty as an integral part of her creative process. She tries not to overthink while producing, choosing instead to let the work flow naturally. A few years ago, she wrote:
"I’m not entirely sure when I started drawing these cities. The lines simply began to flow through my hands. Today, I understand that those drawings were a way of preparing my body to receive something that did not yet have a shape. Some might call it escapism, I prefer to call it meditation."
She continues to feel the exact same way. She does not draw because she sees; she draws to discover what she is seeing—a key way she connects with the hidden world.
While there are feelings she hopes to evoke in those who experience her work, she particularly loves when someone returns for a second look and uncovers something subtle or camouflaged that remains entirely real. Above all, she hopes her work invites viewers into a more nuanced perception, recognizing that what is hidden cannot always be seen.

One of the challenges of Casa Drassanes has been since the beginning to find local human souls that can support and collaborate with the project against mass production and AI.
